The world’s most popular messaging app, WhatsApp, has released a new beta update for its Android users, which is going to completely change the messaging experience. The most special thing in this new update is the integration of improved Voice Chats and Meta AI. Now you will be able to talk to AI not only by typing but also by speaking.

What is the new Android Beta update?

WhatsApp has rolled out version 2.25.21.21 update under its Android Beta program. Many new and exciting features have been included in this update, with a main focus on improving Artificial Intelligence (AI) and voice interaction. This update is currently available only for beta testers, but soon it can be released for all users.

Big change in Voice Chats: Now conversations will be hands-free

WhatsApp has given a new look to the Voice Chats feature. This feature is great for those who prefer to talk by speaking instead of typing or want to use an AI assistant hands-free while multitasking.

What’s new?

After this update, when you open a chat window with Meta AI in the Chats tab, you will see a new ‘waveform’ icon. By tapping on this icon, you can start a real-time voice session with Meta AI. It works just like a phone call, where you can speak continuously and the AI will listen to you and respond immediately.

The best part is that you can also run this voice chat in the background. This means that you can minimize WhatsApp and use another app, such as Chrome browser or Notes, while talking to the AI. Your conversation will continue without interruption.

Meta AI’s explosive entry: Now your assistant is in WhatsApp

The biggest highlight of this update is the integration of Meta AI. Now you can get answers to your questions, get something written, or even get pictures made directly from WhatsApp.

How to use?

There are two ways to start a voice chat with Meta AI:

  • From the Chats Tab: Tap Meta AI in the Chats tab and start a voice session by pressing the waveform icon.
  • From the Calls Tab: You can also start a voice chat with Meta AI directly from the Calls tab.

This feature also takes full care of user privacy. The voice session will never start automatically; the user will have to activate it manually. Also, whenever your microphone is in use, a green privacy indicator will appear in Android. You can mute the mic, end the session, or switch back to text chat at any time.

What can Meta AI do?

Meta AI is a very powerful assistant. You can ask it general knowledge questions, ask for information on a topic, draft an email, or even have the AI create pictures based on your imagination. This feature will make WhatsApp much more useful than just a messaging app.

There are more new features

Apart from this big update, WhatsApp is also working on some other small but useful features.

Message Reminder

Another feature that has been seen in beta testing is ‘Remind Me’. Through this, you can set a reminder on any message. If you want to reply to an important message later, then you can set a reminder for 2 hours, 8 hours, or any time of your choice. When the time is over, WhatsApp will remind you of that message.

How to get these new features?

As we told you, all these features are currently available in the Android beta version of WhatsApp. If you want to try these features immediately, then you have to sign up for the WhatsApp Beta program through the Google Play Store.

Seats in the beta program are limited, so you may have to wait a bit. Once you become a beta tester, you have to update to the latest beta version of the app. Users who are not part of the beta program will have to wait for the official rollout of these features, which could happen in the coming weeks or months.

Conclusion

This new update of WhatsApp gives a glimpse of the future of the app. With Meta AI and improved voice chat, WhatsApp will no longer be just a medium to connect with friends and family, but it will also become a powerful personal assistant. This move will definitely improve the user experience and take WhatsApp even further ahead of other messaging apps.
